Michelle Obama's outfit wasn't the center of attention for the first time.

Bo, the first family's dog, had all eyes on him when he accompanied the first lady to a children's book reading near the White House on Dec. 14.

When First Lady Michelle Obama read the classic children's holiday book, "Twas the Night Before Christmas", to a group of kids at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington DC, Bo startled onlookers when he jumped on Obama's lap to get the best seat in the house. The loveable animal's presence at the charity event held at a children's hospital put the spotlight on him at the brief reading session.

"This is exactly what he does at home," the First Lady laughed. "He tries to beat Malia and Sasha to my lap."

The visit to the Children's National Medical Center was on December 14, but the video of the Bo and Michelle Obama's appearance, was shot by ABC News and was not released until Christmas Eve.

The holiday reading by FLOTUS (First Lady Of The United States) is an annual tradition held by first ladies since President Truman's wife first performed the deed in the 1950s.

Bo's presence is constant at the White House. His likeness has been immortalized into many figurines that are displayed throughout the famous building on Pennsylvania Avenue during the holiday season. There are reportedly many statues of the Portuguese Water Dog on view in every room for visitors to preview when given a tour, to enjoy the first family's famous pet.

Bo is also featured in a video tour for animal lovers who are unable to tour the White House in person. The tradition was started by Obama's predecessor President Bush's dog Barney.

Bo, who is a hypoallergenic breed that is rare, has also been featured in the first family's Christmas cards every year since Obama took office in 2009.
