Kid Cudi revealed that his mission isn't only to make music; it's also to help his listeners.

Kid Cudi Joins the Cast of the Entourage Movie

The 30-year-old musician visited the Arsenio Hall Show on Friday night and candidly spoke about his frustrations with mainstream hip-hop music.

"The money, cash, h--s thing needs to be deaded," he said about the majority of hip-hop music's focus.

"I feel like that's holding us back as a culture, as black people. That doesn't advance us in any way, shape or form. We've been doing that same theme for years now."

Cudi, who recently released his fourth studio album, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, also shared the goal he has had for his music from the beginning.

"All I wanted to do was help kids not feel alone, and stop kids from committing suicide," he said.

"I dealt with suicide for the past five years. There wasn't a week or a day that went by where I was like, 'I wanna check out,' and I know what that feels like and I know it comes from loneliness."

Aside from his music, Cudi is also building a successful acting career. He stars in Need for Speed, which was released on March 14. The film opened at No. 3 domestically with $17.8 million in the box office. While it stalled in the U.S. market, the action flick pulled in $45.6 internationally.

Cudi has also been cast in the Entourage movie, which is currently in production.
