Since Fast and Furious 8 will be the first film in the series without Paul Walker, there has generally been a lot of buzz surrounding the casting for the movie.

Paul Walker's Character To Be Replaced By Brother, Cody, In Furious 8?

The talk has not just been about who will be suitable for filling the void Walker's death has left in the franchise but also how this time arouns the movie might be bringing back some older cast members.

Here are a few candidates that have come up in speculative reports so far.

The most rumored comeback has been that of Eva Mendes, who played Agent Fuentes in Fast and Furious 2. All sorts of reports have surfaced about that possibility with some even going as far as to suggest that Mendes is actually in talks with producers to take on the role, and storylines about her becoming something of a third wheel crush for Dominic (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez).

When Rodriguez was asked to address the rumors about Mendes' returning as Agent Fuentes for the Furious 7 sequel, the actress was very wary about such speculation, and suggested that fans should take everything with a pinch of salt until production for the movie begins. More interestingly Mendes was rooting for a greater ideal of feminism in Fast and Furious 8.

"I think that first off, girls should stop fighting each other and we should start uniting for once," she said. "That's how I feel about that. Secondly, I think that everything is speculation until we actually shooting and we're immortalising stuff on film."

Earlier this year, Billboard came out with its wish list of new actors they'd like to see in Fast and Furious 8, and this including a couple comebacks. The publication suggested that Han (Sung Kang) and Gisele (Gale Gadot) be brought back somehow. The report states that even though the two are suggestively deceased in the movies, with Han being the last to die at the hands of Ian Shaw in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, it is possible to resuscitate them, and it has been done before in the franchise.

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
