The Scorch Trials cast got a taste of extreme bad luck while filming in New Mexico.

'Teen Wolf' Season 5: Kira Is Back & Kicking Butt; What's Next For Arden Cho's Kitsune?

The sequel to Wes Ball's adaptation of James Dashner's Maze Runner took their Scorch adventures to an Indian burial ground, and actor Dylan O'Brien (Thomas) believes the cast's inability to follow directions brought about some bad supernatural mojo.

"They gave us this big speech when we got there to shoot and they said, basically, don't take anything and respect the grounds. They were very strict about littering an [not taking] any artifacts, rocks, skulls, anything like that," O'Brien explained on Live with Kelly and Michael on Tuesday. "Everyone just takes stuff, obviously, and within a week, five of our actors just went down ill. Random stuff, too. Random appendectomy, random hundred and three fever, random broken ankle."

O'Brien himself was even one of the victims, coming down with a high fever that caused directors to send him home from set.

So, was the universe exacting revenge for the actors' transgressions, or was Scorch Trials medical crises simply a case of coincidental timing? Whatever the answer, it's a safe bet O'Brien and Co. will pay a bit more respect to cultural sites in the future.
