Denise Richards mourned the death of her 13-year-old French bulldog named Hank on Sunday.

Richards announced the death of her dog on Twitter along with a picture of Hank: ''Last night we lost our beloved Hank ... I will miss him dearly,13 yrs old ... been there for me thru it all Best dog ever & part of our family.''

The 41-year-old actress received a wave of support from her fans who gave their condolences to the deceased pet.

''Thank you so much for your kind messages about Hank ... it means alot to me," she later added. "You guys are the best ... so thoughtful & kind. Xo."

Richards has two daughters that she shares with ex-husband Charlie Sheen: Sam, 8, and Lola, 7. She also has an 18-month-old girl named Eloise that she adopted.

Hank was not Richards' only pet. She has several cats and dogs in her household and is a strong advocate for pet adoption with her volunteer work for the Best Friends Animal Society.

"I am very active in their Pup My Ride program," she wrote on her blog, according to The Daily Mail. "Every other Monday when I'm not working, I go to the shelter and we take out 30-50 dogs that would otherwise be euthanized."

She adopted a puppy named Lily shortly after Hurricane Sandy devastated New York. Richards visited a Long Island animal shelter with her children and took home a black Labrador mix puppy.

''The girls named her Lily," Richards said of the puppy, according to MSN. "We went back and forth, 'Should we name her Sandy because that was the name of the hurricane?' But it's also such a tragedy. So the girls picked Lily.''
