For the first time, Oprah Winfrey opens up about the heartbreaking loss of her son, Canaan, who she gave birth to prematurely at the age of 14, as reported Daily Mail. While speaking on the Evening with Oprah Tour at the Melbourne's Rod Laver arena, Winfrey revealed the details of her traumatic childhood to an audience of 12,000.

The TV host has been candid about being raped by her cousin at the age of nine. She was also victimized by other family members, who molested her repeatedly throughout her youth. 40 years after becoming pregnant, Winfrey named her son. She went on to explain the significance of his name by stating that, "I named him Canaan because Canaan means new land, new life."

She described how the experience greatly informed her career and motivated her to be "excellent" at it. Oprah encouraged her audience to believe in their most authentic selves, and to have an earned sense of purpose in life, insisting that, "if you are born, there's a reason for you to be here."  Winfrey, worth an estimated $3.2 billion, overcame unimaginable obstacles and in her 61 years, achieved what most can only dream of. Suffice it to say, fans, who spent $99 to $379.90 per ticket, were not disappointed.
