Oprah Winfrey spent her 59th birthday in her bed with a sprained back injury after trying to lift a present from her close friend, actor-producer Tyler Perry.

Perry purchased Oprah a huge bouquet of flowers for her birthday, but were too heavy to move around into the perfect spot in her mansion. While carrying the flowers, Oprah injured her back.

Perry then took to his Facebook page to issue an apology to Oprah.

"I FEEL SO BAD. I like to send really large flower arrangements to people for whatever occasion. Well, I sent one to Oprah yesterday for her birthday. She strained her back picking it up. No joke! Feel better Oprah. Happy birthday. Sorry."

Responding to a tweet Oprah received from a fan asking how she spent her birthday, she responded: "In bed with an ice pack most of today. Moved a bushel of roses sent by @tylerperry and sprained a back muscle."

Perry said for Oprah's 60th birthday next year, he won't be giving her any more heavy flowers carry again. "Next year, I'm sending her one rose."

Oprah then responded and said, "No need to feel bad. Love the roses and got an extra day in bed. Can you say #icepack?"

The superstar talk show host received several Happy Birthday wishes from celebrities and fans via Twitter. "Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Enjoying lunch with Stedman. No plans to leave p.j.'s all day," she said.

Oprah and the 43-year-old director are longtime pals. Both are set to join forces on several sitcom productions on Oprah's OWN Network later this year.
