Clive Davis has responded to Kelly Clarkson’s claims that the successful record executive lied about his relationship with the country music singer in his new memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life.

Davis, 81, went on a media blitz this week appearing on several television shows to promote his new book. During several of the interviews the producer dropped a bombshell involving his sexual orientation. He admitted to having several relationships with men since he divorced his second wife in the 80s.

However, his bombshell overshadowed other details of his life including the relationships he had with his music artists over the years. Davis is credited for building the careers of Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson to name a few.

Shortly after Clarkson got wind of the the contents of the story, the singer spoke out citing there were several inaccuracies about her relationship with Davis. Clarkson, 30, took to her twitter page on Feb 19. to dispel the rumors.

“I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation.”

She disputed the notion that she burst into tears during a meeting with Davis over the inclusion of Since You Been Gone on her album, Breakaway.

"Not true at all," Clarkson said. "His stories and songs are mixed up. I couldn't be more proud of that song. I resent him dampening that song in any way."

Clarkson admitted to her crying in the meeting, but said it wasn’t for the reason Davis recorded.

"I cried after I played him a song I had written about my life called 'Because of You,' " she said. "He hated it and told me verbatim that I was a 's–––ty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me.' "

Today, Davis is sticking to his story. He took to Twitter to express his thoughts on Clarkson’s claims.

“In the book, I provide an in-depth look at our years together during which we shared major multi-platinum success, as well as a few creative differences. I am truly very sorry that she has decided to take issue with what I know to be an accurate depiction of our time together.”

He said his book was fact checked by five other people who were around at the time.

“Before the book was published, I had every fact checked with five independent individuals who were present on a daily basis throughout it all. The chapter as it is written was thoroughly verified by each and every one of them. I stand by the chapter as written in my book. At the same time I wish, and will always wish, Kelly's talent and her career to soar to ever new heights.”
