Modern Family star Sofia Vergara, 40, and her fiancé are reportedly expecting a baby, thanks to a close friend acting as a surrogate.

However, on Feb. 22, there was an unexpected turn when Vergara's surrogate was allegedly rushed to the hospital with pain, fearing it could be a miscarriage. According to The National Enquirer, a source close to the couple said the baby and the surrogate are going to be fine.

"Sofia thanked God that everything was OK," the source told the magazine. The magazine said Vergara tried to hide the surrogate news and cover up the miscarriage scare by putting on her Instagram page that she was at the hospital because of the flu.

Vergara reportedly decided to ask a friend to act as her surrogate because she was the healthiest of her friends that she knew.

The sexy Colombian has a 20-year-old son, and her Modern Family character Gloria also recently had a baby on the show, but Loeb was insistent that they had a baby together, according to the magazine. The couple has been together for three years.

Now, the magazine reports that Loeb is the nervous one regarding the baby on the way.

"Nick has been on edge throughout the whole process," a source told the magazine.
