The Downton Abbey movie is becoming more of a likely thing- but one cast member is reportedly not showing up.

'Downton Abbey' Stars Dish On Possible Movie Based On Series

On Saturday, Mirror gave an update on the film based on the British drama that aired its season finale last week. It appears that most of the cast members are expected to make an appearance, one in particular being Brendan Coyle as Mr. Bates. It was also mentioned that the movie is set to go into production sometime next year and will take place years into the future.

As for the character who won't show up, fans shouldn't anticipate seeing Maggie Smith as the Dowager because her character is apparently going to be dead at that point.

'Downton Abbey' Actress Says 'There Is Talk' Of A Movie

An insider also gave an update on when the film will likely be ready along with other details.

"There is a timeline in place- even though everyone is staying quiet about it for now," the source said. "The film should be ready in time for Christmas 2018. The script outlines are broadly in place. All the stars of the show have verbally committed to the film, which will be shot in the UK. It's a bit of a wait because [series creator] Julian Fellowes has to concentrate on his Gilded Age series for NBC in the US first."

Fellowes revealed that he was "very pro-movie" and that it has a "very good shot" of happening.
