In a recent interview, director James Wan dished about filming The Conjuring 2 and how it was tougher for him as the project was "intimate" and additionally there were a lot of expectations after the immense success of the original.

Speaking to Comic Book Resources, the director revealed that making The Conjuring 2 was in some ways harder than his last last mega blockbuster, Furious 7. Wan attributed this to the fact that he had a lot of personal attachment to The Conjuring series, which can make things more difficult.

"I went into Conjuring 2 thinking, 'Oh, this is gonna be pretty easy.' I'm working with the actors and the crew that I know before and we had such a great time doing it. I think it might be a little bit of a cake walk, but that wasn't the case at all. It was difficult. And the reason why it's difficult is because I really did put a lot of pressure on myself to try and live up to how beloved the first film is," he said.

"There was this constant shadow of the first film just hovering over me throughout the entire production. And I actually think that's a good thing to have that pressure behind you because that just means I wouldn't be complacent, I wouldn't phone it in--not that I would anyway in the first place, I don't think I've ever done that in any of the movies I've made--but I do think there was actually so much more pressure on this one in a lot more ways than even Furious 7. In Furious 7 it was taking on someone else's franchise that they started, but with this one I--it's more intimate for me. It's more personal for me and I wanted to make sure that I worked very hard to not let all of the people around me down."

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are reprising their roles as Lorraine and Ed Warren in the movie. It also stars Franka Potente, Frances O'Connor, Madison Wolfe and Lauren Esposito.

The Conjuring 2 will open in theaters on June 10.
