Look sharp, Barry Allen; a new character will have his eyes on you in season 3.

The Flash will presumably upend the Scarlet Speedster's (Grant Gustin) timeline this fall, a blow to the time stream that will undoubtedly have drastic repercussions on the present day. While fans wait to see how far the writers will delve into the Flashpoint storyline, the following casting tidbit has slipped out.

"For Season 3, the CW hit is casting the major recurring character of Barry's slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive," TV Line's Michael Ausiello announced on Thursday. "As such, this newcomer doesn't buy Barry's nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he's hiding - all while concealing some secrets of his own..."

Hey, now - Barry's amiable attitude is no routine, at least not for the version of the Barry we've come to know and love. With a suspicious attitude like that, this newbie is setting himself up for some serious side eye.

Alas, it does not appear as if the unnamed character will take on the mantel of season 3's big bad. That announcement is still coming, although fans will probably have to wait until next spring for the culprit to be unveiled.

In this hiatus drought of information, The Flash's Carlos Valdes (Cisco) did give fans a bone to chew on late last month.

"I know for a fact that season three is going start in a very unexpected place," Valdes teased at MegaCon, according to Monkeys Fighting Robots. "I think fans are going to be a little discombobulated, but the payoff is spectacular."
