As the one year anniversary of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death quickly approaches, word has spread that Bobby Brown had an emotional moment just before his appearance at the BET Awards Sunday night.

Brown surprised the audience and viewers when he joined the cast of the New Edition biopic on stage. But now we know what happened just minutes before.

“Bobby’s team had to force him, literally push him on stage to present an award but all that was on his mind was Bobbi Kristina and Whitney,” one source told Hollywood Life. “He was sobbing saying ‘I miss Krissy and Whitney, I can’t do this.’”

This is one of Bobby’s first television appearances since he lost his daughter Bobbi Kristina on July 26, 2015. The awards aired live on June 26. Bobbi Kristina’s life took a tragic turn after she was found unconscious in her bathtub on Jan. 31, 2015. She was in a medically induced coma for roughly three months before she was transported to a rehab center. She was later taken to a hospice facility where she died. Her mother and Bobby’s ex-wife, Whitney Houston, died in similar circumstances on Feb, 11, 2012. She passed away after being discovered unconscious in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub.

The source added, “Bobby’s team had to force him, literally push him on stage to present an award but all that was on his mind was Bobby Kristina and Whitney. He was sobbing saying, ‘I miss Krissy and Whitney, I can’t do this.’”

That’s when one of his sons stepped in and encouraged him to go on stage.

“’Dad, it’s all right,’” they said. “Bobby seemed to get it together at that point. His eyes were blood-red from the tears as BET has been like family to him, Krissy and Whitney.”
