For all intents and purposes, the PlayStation 4 Neo is being designed as a means for the Japanese tech giant to combat Microsoft's Xbox Scorpio. Though it would be pretty difficult for Sony to match the Scorpio's raw power, recently leaked document has shown that the PlayStation 4 Neo would have a pretty nifty trick up its sleeve.

The leaked document is speculated to have come from Sony itself, showing a pretty comprehensive rundown of what the PS4 Neo could do. The 42-page document further outlined how Sony's upcoming gaming console would utilize innovative technologies to bring 4K-quality gaming to owners of non-4K TVs. Considering the comprehensiveness of the report, as well as the nature of the information, the leaked document does seem quite legitimate.

Apart from this, an accidental leak, this time by e-commerce giant Amazon, appeared to show the PlayStation 4 Neo's release date and price. Most probably by accident, Amazon's Spanish-language website showed a page featuring the PlayStation 4 Neo, which had a listed release date of October 13 and a starting price of $440.

Though the PS4 Neo page was quickly taken down by Amazon, it was enough for PlayStation enthusiasts to get very hyped about the device. After all, the listing has, albeit unintentionally, given away two very valuable pieces of information.

First off, the upcoming gaming console's release date is indeed very surprising. Considering that Sony did not feature the PlayStation 4 Neo during its E3 2016 presentation, many fans were already set on the idea that the update to the aging PS4 would be released sometime next year. If the Amazon listing was anything to go by, however, it seems like Sony is targeting the Holiday season for the release of the Neo.

Apart from this pleasantly surprising release date, the price of the device was something very notable as well. At $440, the PS4 Neo would probably far more affordable than Microsoft's upcoming Xbox Scorpio. Though Microsoft has not unveiled the actual price of the upcoming gaming machine, the monster specs of the console would suggest that the Scorpio would be given a very premium price.

While the PlayStation 4 Neo would not be as powerful as the Xbox Scorpio, its early release date, coupled with its very aggressive price, would probably be enough to give the Scorpio a run for its money. Sony has somewhat done the same with its VR headset, after all. Just like the PSVR is not as powerful or capable as the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive, the PSVR's affordable price and the plethora of VR-compatible titles are something that Sony is definitely betting on.
