With millions of players across the world immersed in the Pokémon GO phenomenon, it is no surprise that some creative users here and there would spot a glitch or two about the game. While the game's developer, Niantic, has been pretty vigilant about fixing the augmented reality title's glitches, there are new loopholes found by players in the game practically every day.

Among the most recent Pokémon GO glitches involve players holding on to gyms for an indefinite period of time. Yes, you read that right. As it is right now, there is a way to occupy a Pokémon GO gym without any fear of getting it taken over by rival teams.

How do you do this seemingly impossible task? It's actually pretty simple.

A Rather Resourceful Workaround

A number of players have found that leaving Pokémon eggs in gyms that they took over makes the gym impossible to challenge. This has been found by numerous players in the United States, who were unfortunate enough to stumble upon a gym occupied by Pokémon Egg.

Since Eggs have 0CP and have no stats whatsoever, anyone coming into the gym to challenge its owner would not be able to do so. Eggs can never participate in a battle, after all (And no, Exeggcute does not count). With this, the Pokémon Egg can simply sit in a gym for an indefinite period of time. Doing this gives players a number of benefits, such as earning Pokécoins for every day the gym is occupied.

Until When Will This Glitch Be Effective?

Considering that Niantic is very hands-on with the game, it would not be surprising at all if this rather unusual, but surely lucrative glitch, would be addressed in an upcoming update. After all, this Pokémon Egg on gyms glitch does make the game quite unfair for many players. Part of the essence of Pokémon GO, after all, is in its gym takeovers.

Is There A Risk For Players Who Leave Eggs On Gyms?

Considering that the glitch does make the game unfair for the majority of Pokémon GO players, it should be safe to assume that taking over gyms with a Pokémon Egg carries a significant amount of risk. For one, Niantic could easily consider the glitch as a cheat, resulting in the player who leaves a Pokémon Egg in a gym to be banned from the game.

Then again, Niantic has been pretty silent about the glitch so far. Thus, those who would wish to live the Pokémon GO life on the edge might want to try exploiting this glitch. If ever you do, however, be very aware of the risks. Don't say we never warned you.
