Fans of the popular game Defense of the Ancients 2, better known as DOTA 2, were treated with a number of pleasant surprises this week, with the recently concluded The International (TI) 2016 showing off not just one, but two new heroes that would be coming to the game.

The first hero was someone that has been around for a pretty long time. In fact, the new hero, which is set for a worldwide release, was present even in the game's Warcraft III days. This character is Pit Lord, who would be coming to DOTA 2 as Underlord on Aug. 23.

Thus, fans of the four-legged nightmare machine would be glad to know that by Tuesday next week, the popular character, whose Ultimate has always been a fan favorite, would finally be playable again. Valve showed off Underlord's abilities in an All-Star event at TI 2016, much to the crowd's appreciation.

While Underlord's reveal was something that definitely pleased fans, however, the unveiling of the next DOTA 2 hero managed to get fans even more excited. In a brief trailer, Valve showed off a new character that would be coming to the game in the Fall, the formidable, crafty Monkey King.

The Monkey King is the product of ancient Chinese and has always been a favorite in both games and literature. Appearing in the famous Chinese novel Journey to the West, the Monkey King was the inspiration for a number of prominent Chinese films and popular manga such as Dragon Ball.

The Monkey King has also been featured in other games such as League of Legends and Smite, where the character is featured as a champion. In his DOTA 2 reveal, the Monkey King was shown to have the ability to create duplicates of himself across the map.

Valve has always been pretty tight-lipped about the contents of its most popular games' updates, and with the recent reveal of Underlord and the Monkey King, the gaming firm seems to be staying true to its form. Nevertheless, both characters are sure to make a big impact on the game as soon as they become available.
