There is absolutely no doubt that Pokémon GO is the hottest mobile game in the world right now, with the augmented reality title attracting millions of players despite being released in only a handful of territories.

With the game embraced by millions, a number of speculations have already emerged about what the game's future updates will feature. With this said, we will focus on three particular aspects of Pokémon GO that are rumored to be included in the game's upcoming updates.

Generation 2 Pokemon

This is pretty much a no-brainer, considering that the Pokémon universe is expanding every year. What's even more interesting is that Pokémon GO's Generation 2 monsters would not only feature 100 new pocket monsters with 86 new moves, the concepts of baby Pokemon and diverging evolution lines might be explored by the game as well.

This means that trainers who have caught Scyther can evolve the monster to Scizor. While this feature is undoubtedly an instant hit, it might take some time, probably well into 2017, before a Generation 2 update could be expected.

Trading System

One of the biggest gripes of Pokémon GO players is the fact that they cannot trade their pocket monsters with their friends. After all, the feature is something that fans of the original Pokémon games are very used to. With this said, it is pretty much certain that Niantic would incorporate this feature in Pokémon GO as soon as the firm can work out the kinks in its current system.

If Niantic manages to get its server and tracking issues fixed within the month, there is a chance, albeit quite slim, that Pokemon Trading might be released in a Pokémon GO update as early as this coming November. This is because mobile game developers usually take about 10 weeks to release an update, with 1 week allotted for meetings and validation, 4 to 6 weeks for development, and 2 to 3 weeks for a beta test.

Active Trainer vs. Trainer Battles

Yet another feature that avid Pokémon fans are very used to, trainer vs. trainer battles are a staple of the Pokémon franchise since the first game debuted decades ago. The absence of trainer battles are among the biggest complaints in Pokémon GO right now; thus, just like trading, Niantic will most definitely roll out a trainer vs. trainer battle system in an upcoming update.

Considering that a trading system might be prioritized for the rumored November 2016 update, however, the Pokémon GO debut of trainer vs. trainer battles would most probably be scheduled for an early 2017 release, probably around March.

While the wait for these updates might not really be that short, they are, nonetheless, very much worth it. After all, how satisfying would it be to finally start challenging random strangers to one-on-one Pokemon battles?
