The Flash's Barry Allen hasn't seen the last of Hunter Zolomon.

Every speedster that tracks through Central City has but one goal in mind - to earn the sobriquet 'Fastest Man Alive.' For some, even death can't put an end to their need for speed. As season 2 came to a close, it was clear this is a fate will befall Zoom (Teddy Sears), Earth-2's sociopathic tornado of misery and deception. As Sears' character was hauled away by the dementors time wraiths, he became the spitting image of Black Flash.

Although Sears' time on the series is far from over, fans shouldn't expect the grim reaper of the Speed Force to pop up anytime soon.

"Obviously, we did that on purpose," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said of Zoom's exit, according to Entertainment Weekly. "We love working with Teddy [Sears]. He's such an amazing actor and amazing person and was so much a part of the success of this show last season. There aren't any immediate plans for that, but you can't keep a good Black Flash down, so I'm sure we'll be seeing him in the future."

Sears' is currently tied up with 24: Legacy, but the actor has already assured fans that the Fox drama would not preclude a return to The CW.

"The door's not shut," the Sears told Kevin Smith during a May episode of Fat Man on Batman. "I'm not giving anything away about how things have ended...but moving onto 24 is not preventative."

For now, Barry (Grant Gustin) and the rest of the STAR Labs crew will have their hands full with Flashpoint, Doctor Alchemy, Savitar, and the return of Grodd.
