Heidi Klum is now wearing a ring given to her by boyfriend, Martin Kirsten.

The model and her beau both drew attention because they were wearing similar gold bands. On Thursday, she confirmed to PEOPLE that the jewelry was a gift from her bodyguard turned boyfriend. She also shared that the band was inscribed with the word "Martin".

"This is a ring I got from my boyfriend. It's a present," she said.

The former Victoria Secret's Model started dating Kirsten after her marriage to Seal ended in April 2012. The two had been married for seven years and were known to renew their vows every year. Klum said her heart had rebounded on an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on November 6, 2012.

"I'm very happy," she said.

Klum also opened up to German magazine Bunte that same month. She was even more blunt about her feelings. She left no doubt about how she felt about him.

"Ja! Ich bin verliebt!" she told the magazine.

The translation is , "Yes, I'm in love". In the same interview, Klum denied that she and Kirsten were keeping their affection hidden away from public view. She said her new love was not hiding at all.

"He's just not the sort of guy looking for the spotlight. He prefers to stay in the background. There will always be people who will criticize whoever I live with, what kind of clothes I wear or what hairstyle I have," she said.

"At the end of the day, you have to do what makes you happy. That's the rule I live by."

Klum said that her new boyguard also had the approval of her children. She is mom to Leni, 8, Henry, 7, Johan, 5 and Lou, 3. Klum shares custody with Seal.

"They like him very much," she said.

Klum said that Kirsten's presence throughout the years helped with the transition for the kids.

"This is also one reason why I'm so fond of him. He's been helping me for four years now. And he takes wonderful care of the kids. He plays with them, he protects them. I trust him," he said.
