Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans has always been an anime that excels in building up tension and releasing it in a satisfying burst of action. With Iron-Blooded Orphans Season 2's debut episode, the anime does exactly that, building up the danger until the final moment, when fans finally got a brief glimpse of the titular mecha's new iteration.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans

Iron-Blooded Orphans became quite popular in the Gundam community due to its compelling story and rather serious subject matter. Dealing with the controversial theme of child soldiers fending for themselves and creating an army, the anime dealt with numerous protests and a lot of disapproval during its first season's run.

Regardless of this, however, the anime nonetheless captured the heart of longtime Gundam fans, who appreciated the anime for its serious tone and its no-holds-barred take on war. Over the course of the series, protagonists, villains and side characters were killed, and viewers found themselves invested.

Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Season 2

The second season of the anime has recently aired, and the debut episode of the story's second half was received fairly well by fans of the series. This was despite the fact that the action only picks up during the final minutes of the episode. For the rest of Season 2 Episode 1's airtime, the anime has opted to do what it does best - world building.

Iron-Blooded Orphans Season 2 is set years after the final battle of Season 1. In the current season, the child soldiers' group, Tekkadan, has grown into a remarkable military force that supports numerous organizations. Regardless of this, however, the series' most beloved characters, such as Orga, Kudelia and the Gundam pilot, Mikazuki, were shown to have grown a lot more mature over the years.

If the ending theme of the anime is any indication, it appears that the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans would be an action-packed ride that is filled with intrigue, betrayal, and most of all, over-the-top mecha action.
