There are conflicting reports regarding exactly what went down between Camila Cabello and her now former girl group Fifth Harmony.

Fifth Harmony announced via Twitter late Sunday night that Cabello had decided to quit the band after four and a half years. After this news broke, there was a report by People claiming the singer hadn't always gotten along with the band.

"They hadn't gotten along," a source told the magazine. "Camila never made it a secret she planned to do her own thing eventually."

"I don't think anyone is surprised from our side," said another source. "Camila has been a pioneer and has really gone out there and had some great collaborations. We knew it was only a matter of time."

Her duet with Shawn Mendes last year, "I Know What You Did Last Summer", went Platinum, and now her song "Bad Things" with Machine Gun Kelly is finding success on the charts as well.

Despite those sources claiming Cabello was at odds with the rest of Fifth Harmony, a third source suggested otherwise.

"That was never their issue because they all have solo projects in the works," the source said. "The girls will be making huge announcements for the group and their solo endeavors in January."

Fifth Harmony's announcement featured a rather interesting line, with the girl group claiming they found out about Cabello's decision to leave from her "representatives," suggesting she may not have given them the heads-up beforehand.

"After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well," the post stated. "We are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us. We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavors. We are excited for our future, and we can't wait for what the new year brings."

UPDATE: Cabello has posted a new photo on Instagram explaining that she did in fact indicate to her bandmates that she was leaving. Read her note below:
