Former Glee stars Melissa Benoist and Blake Jenner have called it quits on their marriage after four years together and one of marriage.

According to TMZ, Benoist, now the star of Supergirl, filed for divorce from the Edge of Seventeen actor, citing "irreconcilable differences," a move that seems surprising to fans of the pair, who have generally kept the romance private but seemed to be extraordinarily happy together.

E! Reports the pair seemed to be happy at the Toronto Film Festival back in September, where they traveled to promote Jenner's film, and Benoist has occasionally spoken up about her husband in interviews in the past, discussing when they met on the set of Glee in the show's fourth season, when they both joined the cast.

"We clicked on his first day, during a 'Born To Hand Jive' dance rehearsal," she previously said. "I love talking about it. Blake is amazing! The chemistry you see with Marley and Ryder is not acting."

The pair both joined the former musical series on FOX in its fourth season, when the main characters all focused on new paths in life outside of the fictional McKinley High School. They were a part of a new crop of Glee Club hopefuls who were ushered it, but halfway through season five, their characters were cut from the show as ratings declined. Despite a refocus on the high school setting in the show's sixth and final season, their characters were not asked back.

Jenner had won his role on the show after participating in the reality show The Glee Project during its second season.

The pair were never actually public about their relationship, and didn't even really confirm they had married, which happened just last year in March 2015. News broke of their marriage in July.
