Valerie Fairman's mother feels that 16 & Pregnant may have ultimately led to the demise of her daughter.

One week after the reality star and mother of 7-year-old Niveah tragically died after a suspected drug overdose, her mother spoke out about the negative impact the show had on her child.

"She was a gorgeous girl and it all went to her head," Fairman's mother said in an interview with Daily Mail at her four-bedroom home in Oxford, Pennsylvania. "She thought she could pretty much do whatever she liked after the show. She was determined to get everything she wanted."

"I wish she had never been on TV. It played a big part in her death. I think it messed her up big time," she continued. "When we tried to put our foot down, that's when she left home. I don't think there is anything more we could have done to help her."

Fairman was found dead of an apparent drug overdose on December 21 at just 23-years-old. At the time of her death, Fairman was found in a bathroom of a rundown home 30 minutes from where she grew up.

Following her death, Fairman's fellow MTV star, Farrah Abraham, spoke out.

"I've been so hurt by that all day. Valerie is so gorgeous. She's so pretty and her daughter is just so amazing," Abraham said in a statement to Us Weekly. "It really hurts me. Just like Sophia's dad, who was just surrounded by people, even though you're using drugs. It's such an experimental time from our teens to our 20s. I'm not judging anyone who is recreational [with their drug use] because we all may do that, just some people don't live through it."
