It seems there's no stopping the Fast & Furious 6 mayhem.

While the movie is not opening in U.S. theaters until May 24, it has already made a dynamite premiere in the United Kingdom.

The sixth installment opened in the U.K. on May 17 and grossed $13.1 million, according to Fox News. The record numbers placed the movie at No. 1 in the box office, beating The Great Gatsby ($6.2 million) and Star Trek ($5.6 million). Iron Man trailed right behind, holding the No. 4 spot.

Fast & Furious 6 gives Universal Pictures two things to smile about. The opening weekend marks the biggest U.K. debut for the whole Fast & Furious series and in addition, Fast 6 is now the the highest-grossing Universal Pictures film in the region to date.

Could the success be related to the return of Letty, played by actress Michelle Rodriguez?

"I love all the fans and if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be in Fast 6," she told NBC Latino. "It makes all the hard work worth it."

Rodriguez confirmed in an interview that she will be appearing in the seventh installment of Fast & Furious. The movie is expected for release on July 11, 2014, according to IMDB

Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the franchise, revealed another thing about the upcoming movie.

"I told the Universal people there was no way were not having a Los Angeles premiere," Deisel told Variety. "One other thing: For Fast and Furious 7, we are bringing it back to Los Angeles."

Actress Jordana Brewster, who plays Dom's sister Mia, seemed amped for the U.S. premiere on May 24.

"Whose going to @FastFurious tonight," she wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
