Samsung has confirmed it will be holding a press conference to reveal its investigative findings on the recalled Galaxy Note 7. The press conference is taking place in Seoul, South Korea on Monday, January 23rd at 10AM. Due to the time difference, it will be streamed live for the English-speaking audience on Sunday, January 22nd at 8PM ET and 5 p.m. Pacific time in the US.

The phone was reported prone to battery-related issues of overheating, and in some cases exploding. It was recalled back in September just weeks after it first went on sale. The resulting catastrophe caused in millions of returned phones, including a FAA-mandated flight ban.

Throughout the months of recall Samsung has given only unclear and incomplete answers regarding the true cause of the problem. Some reports claim the company had not pinned down a concrete cause. Accordingly, Samsung Electronics as well as independent expert organizations who conducted their own investigation, will share their findings into various aspects of the Galaxy Note 7 incidents.

It was also reported that Samsung will discuss the findings of the investigations and disclose new actions Samsung has implemented as a rejoinder to the incidents. The manufacturer will also reveal new strategies to ensure such errors will not occur again.

There have been several preliminary reports on what probably caused Galaxy Note 7 handsets to explode. Recently, it was alleged that the original device contained irregular sized batteries which lead to spontaneous combustion.

Despite Samsung changing its battery, devices continued to explode after the first recall due to other alleged manufacturing issues. Other reports have suggested Galaxy Note 7 handsets did not contain enough space to host their 3,500mAh batteries.

Samsung will announce the findings of its official investigation about the defects that lead to the Galaxy Note 7s recall and ultimate discontinuation. The conference will be available via livestream at Samsung.com with English translations.
