Blizzard Entertainment announced a new addition to the much-loved Diablo 3 coming in 2017. True, it was not what loyal Diablo fans have been expecting but at least, they may still look forward to something new in the game franchise this 2017.

Blizzard Entertainment is set to release Rise of the Necromancer pack this year. Although there is no actual Necromancer Diablo 3 release date yet, the company's Facebook page is set to have a live Question and Answer (Q & A) stream at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Jan. 26.

Fans may also post their questions in advance at Diablo's official Facebook page. The Necromancer Diablo 3 release date is the most frequently asked question, as of the moment. Of course, fans are also very curious on how the new class will actually work.

When released, the Rise of the Necromancer pack will work only with both Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls. For PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition is needed.

According to Blizzard Entertainment, additional perks of the Rise of the Necromancer pack include pennant, portrait frame, banner and banner sigil, in-game pet, two bonus character slots and stash tabs (for PC only).

The Necromancer is also a part of the earlier game, Diablo 2. However, the class has been missing in the initial release of Diablo 3. This is mainly because Diablo 3 has been launched containing very similar class, the Witch Doctor.

What is the main difference between a Necromancer and a Witch Doctor? The Necromancer is the master of the dark arts who gets its power from death. This new playable class is darker than the Witch Doctor. Additionally, players have more control over its summoned pets unlike the Witch Doctor.
