The PlayStation 4 got its major system updated on March 9, 2017. System Software update PS4 4.50 is now available and live for PlayStation 4 owners which are adding major functionality to the squad. Between enabling external hard drives, the ability to make your own background images and the ShareFactory app's new important functionality, the PS4 is more functional than before.

The major one is external hard drive one as the Xbox One and Wii U has been up for the old external hard drive for ages. Earlier, the PlayStation 4 owners have to satisfy themselves with having to swap out the internal hard disk to make more room. But now with this update of  PS4 4.50, changes will be seen.

According to VG 24/7, the features in the PS4 4.50 System Software Update are best as far Sony is concerned. The features include Boost Mode, External HDD, PS VR Improvement, Voice Chat for Remote Play, Off Console availability, Voice Chat for Remote Play, Custom Wallpaper and Profile Colour.

Boost Mode is only applicable for PS4 Pro only which will provide better performance for legacy titles which have not been patched to take advantage of the faster CPU and its faster, double-sized GPU. This will provide a frame rate boost to some games with variable frame rates, along with frame rate stability for games programmed to run at 30 Hz or 60 Hz. With external HDD, the users will be allowed to download and store PS4 games and apps to the device.

With this PS4 4.50 System Software Update, the resolution of the system screen displayed on the TV will be significant better.PS VR will now be supporting Blu-ray 3D discs and users will be able to watch them in stereoscopic 3D via the headset. Voice chat is now available when using Remote Play on Windows PC, Mac or Xperia device. One will be able to switch mic on and off via the microphone icon on the Tool Bar of the Remote Play app. An Icon shaped like a Smartphone has been added which indicates when a player logged into PSN but away from their console. A new option to personalize the user's profile page is available and to set home screen wallpaper.
