Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz is rumored to be the next Bond girl.

The last week has been riff with rumors about the 24th Bond film. Still untitled, the production is set to get underway in the summer of 2014, possibly under the direction of Sam Mendes.

"The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments," a source said, according to Yahoo! Movies. "The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now."

Cruz would be the oldest Bond girl yet. When filming starts, the Vicky Cristina Barcelona star will be 40 years old. According to Perez Hilton, Cruz would beat out the current oldest femme fatale by one year - Honor Blackman was 39 when she played Pussy Galore in 1962's Goldfinger.

However, Daniel Craig is also getting up there in age. 007 will be 46 years old when work on the next film begins.

Cruz is currently pregnant with her second child from Skyfall's villain Javier Bardem. Producers don't seem too concerned about Cruz's post-pregnancy body still fulfilling the criteria expected of Bond's companion.

"She got back into shape fast after the first baby and will no doubt regain her figure quickly this time," a source said, according to Just Jared. "She'll be a great Bond girl. Bond girls are always brainy as well as sexy, and that's totally Penelope."

Hopefully some of the speculation around the film and it's stars will be cleared up soon.
