The roster of the Guardians, just like the Avengers, has gone through several changes over the years. And it seems like this will also be the case in the upcoming sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" directed by James Gunn.

According to Jonathan Schwartz, the film's executive producer, there is a possibility that one new member will join the official roster of the team. A lot of fans know that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will introduce a new character in the movie: Mantis (Pom Klementieff). However, it is still uncertain whether she would actually join Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and the rest of the group or not.

"There are a few members that will be helping the Guardians out along the course of this movie," Schwartz teased, as reported by Comicbook. "Perhaps by the end of the movie, someone will have joined them on board."

Aside from Mantis, Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Yondu (Michael Rooker) are also going to team up with Quill in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." All of these new potential Guardians members, as said on Screen Rant, may have a chance to appear in the "Avengers: Infinity War" film.

Mantis may actually have the highest chance of joining the group after "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." In the comics, she was one of the newest official members of the gang. As for Nebula and Yondu, however, these characters are already affiliated with other groups - at least to some extent. Nebula is one of Thanos' (Josh Brolin) daughters while the latter is the leader of the space thieves and bandits, Ravagers.

No official word yet on who will officially join in the Guardians after the second movie. At this point, it would be best to just wait for further news and teasers coming from the production regarding the matter. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is the third film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe phase 3 after "Captain America Civil War" and "Doctor Strange," Enstarz reported. The movie is going to hit United States cinemas on May 5, 2017.
