Henry Cavill talked about his upcoming film Man Of Steel and said he's definitely in awe of everything Superman -- especially the character's iconic uniform.

"That felt incredible, there is nothing quite like it," the actor told Nightline on Thursday, recalling the first time he put the suit on. "It's not just a suit. It's like when someone cooks you a wonderful meal and you can taste that there's love put in the food. It's the same thing with the suit."

The legacy of the superhero looms over the new film, as this year marks the character's 75th anniversary. The film also comes out during the rise of the superhero genre: the characters Batman and Iron Man have been featured among the recent successful franchises.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder said that he was not intimidated by the Superman mythology or of any other modern superhero.

"Superman has always been the best and greatest superhero, because he's kind of the purest mythology of what a superhero is," Snyder said.

The director said that he wanted to delve into the story of Superman's origin, so he began the film with the character's birth on Krypton and showed in detail the hero's struggle with his identity on Earth.

"I think it's the thing that's often sort of overlooked about Superman is that he is an alien, he's from another world entirely," said Snyder. "He wants the acceptance of his adoptive world. That's really the journey that he's on, is to find what is the why of him on this planet."

Cavill also lauded the presentation of Superman as a solitary man on his road to becoming a superhero for the masses.

"I think we've all been there at one stage of our life, or presently, and I channeled that [loneliness]," Cavill suggested.

Man of Steel hasn't alienated companies looking to use the film as a promotional vehicle. ComicBookMovie.com reported that the film made $170 million just from its promotional partners, which include Gillette, Chrysler, Nokia, Wal-Mart, and the U.S. Army National Guard.

Man of Steel is set to open in theaters on June 14.
