Actress Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, has broken his silence on Meghan’s engagement to Prince Harry. Thomas seemed to have gone MIA after Clarence House announced the royal engagement. But now he has opened up about it.

Meghan Markle's Dad Is 'Very Pleased'

British newspaper Daily Mirror caught up with Thomas in Mexico. When asked if he would be at the wedding, that’s slated for next May, to give his daughter away, Thomas reportedly couldn’t be happier as he “beamed.”

“Yes. I’d love to,” he stated. “I’m very pleased. I’m delighted.”

He also stated the obvious; he couldn’t say much more than that about details of the engagement and the wedding. Markle and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, released a joint statement after the announcement hit on Nov.

“We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry. Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as a parent,” read the statement. “We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together.”

Royal Family Says Engagement Is 'America's Loss'

While Thomas and Doria have not said much about the upcoming nuptials, the royal family has been pretty outspoken about it. And it’s safe to say they are extremely pleased with Harry’s choice to pop the question to the actress.

Harry’s father, Prince Charles, said the family is “thrilled” about the wedding and is convinced they will live happy lives together. His wife, Camilla Parker-Bowels also described America joining the royal family as “America’s loss” and their “gain.” She pointed out that with all of the negativity going on around the world, it’s great to have good news such as an upcoming royal wedding.

Fans will be able to tune in and see the two tie the knot live. News hit just after the engagement that the event will be televised. One of their representatives stated they wanted the general public to be able to celebrate them and witness their big day. It’s set to take place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England. Sources at the palace confirmed Prince Harry’s will foot the bill for the celebration.

Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, also had a televised wedding as nearly 23 million people in the United States tuned in as he married Kate Middleton in April 2011. Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana also had a televised wedding in which 17 million Americans watched.
