Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may break a royal tradition on their wedding day. The couple reportedly wants their cake to be made from bananas.

If their plan pushes through, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding cake will be the first one among the royals to be made from the fruit.

Bananas played an adorable role in Prince Harry and Markle's relationship months after they started dating. On her social media account, the Suits actress shared a photo of two bananas cuddling each other.

Fans have speculated that the photo symbolized Markle's relationship with Prince Harry. Despite their distance from each other, they stayed connected through various ways.

Prince Harry Loves Anything With Banana

Prince Harry and Markle also love eating bananas and any food that contains the fruit. The prince's former royal chef, Darren McGrady, revealed that even Prince Harry's brother, Prince William, also loves eating bananas.

Meanwhile, the royal tradition dictates that the top tier of the cake is made out of fruit because it is more long-lasting. This layer is later on served at the baptism of the couple's first child. Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton also broke royal tradition during their 2011 wedding. The couple had a groom's cake made of chocolate biscuits for their reception at the Buckingham Palace.

Award-winning wedding cake designer Rosalind Miller has predicted that Markle and Prince Harry will veer away from the traditional wedding cake and will opt for a sponge cake.

"But with Meghan being American, they are more used to having sponge cakes. We find that in actual fact, most couples that come to us also want sponge cakes these days. The traditional rich fruit cake is not very popular now," said Miller.

Who Will Design Meghan Markle's Wedding Dress?

As of late, other details about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding are still being kept under wraps. However, there are also predictions when it comes to who will design her gown. Some of the names being linked to Markle include Oscar de la Renta, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Caroline Castigliano, and Calvin Klein.

The Suits alum previously described her perfect wedding gown to be "whimsical and slightly romantic."

"Delphine Manivet and Christos Costarellos are faves of mine for their uniqueness and beauty. And I will always be a fan of Ellie Saab. J. Mendel is spectacular as well, especially for more structural designs," said the actress.
