Brad Pitt brought a huge crowd to New York City's Times Square while he was there to promote World War Z on Monday.

"We're not doing this small," he told The Associated Press about the large premiere. "We're going big this summer."

The 49-year-old actor walked the red carpet in a black suit and let his long hair down. He also made sure to sign autographs for his fans, according to AP.

One person missing from the New York City premiere was his leading lady Angelina Jolie and that's only because she was busy doing her usual humanitarian work.

"She's watching the others right now and she's taking off in a matter of moments for [World] Refugee Day, [which] she's dealing with on the other side of the world," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Jolie had accompanied Pitt to the movie premieres in Berlin on June 4 and in London on June 2.

While walking the red carpet, the actor explained why he thinks World War Z  is a movie worth seeing.

"A movie is only good if it speaks about our time, if it's personal in some way, and it plugs into the zeitgeist to irritate a little bit. I think we got that here," he also told AP.

Industry insiders believe the movie will gross anywhere from $40 million to $50 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pitt also revealed that his sons Maddox and Pax have already seen the film, and they loved it. He said that Maddox, his oldest son, even has a cameo in the film. In the cameo, Pitt's 11-year-old boy gets shot several times, including once in the head.

The star's next stop will be Moscow, Russia, where he will continue to promote World War Z.

The apocalyptic movie, in which he plays a United Nations investigator trying to save humanity from a zombie pandemic, hits U.S. theaters on June 21.
