Justin Bieber is reportedly set on showing Selena Gomez that he could be a better boyfriend to her. However, the two are still not officially back together.

A source close to the couple recently revealed that Bieber and Gomez are still hanging out frequently. The two go to church regularly, and they also enjoy their date nights. However, they won't be celebrating Christmas together.

Even though Bieber wants to show Gomez and her family that he could be a better boyfriend to her, it would be impossible for the 23-year-old singer to do it over the holidays.

"Justin's family always loved Selena, but Selena's family is still not happy about her seeing Justin. Selena doesn't bring Justin to any family events. Selena is spending Christmas with her family. As of now, Justin is not invited," said the source.

Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, had nothing but good things to say about Gomez when she was asked about her last week.

Mallette admitted that she doesn't know everything that's going on in her son's life, but if Bieber loves Gomez, then she loves her too.

Meanwhile, Bieber and Gomez have also agreed to keep their relationship low-key because they weren't pleased with the media attention they received when they started hanging out again in October.

"It just got too crazy last week with all the attention... They just backed off a little from being out there and are being a bit more low-key," said the source.

Bieber and Gomez dated on-and-off between 2010 and 2015, but they were each other's first love. A source claimed that this was one of the reasons why Gomez had a hard time moving on from Bieber.

Even though she dated The Weeknd after the "Sorry" singer, Gomez still held out hope that she and Bieber would eventually reconcile romantically.

Following her split from The Weeknd, Gomez admitted that she and her ex-boyfriend are on good terms. Gomez revealed that she has not dated anyone who she became good friends with afterward.

During the same interview, the 25-year-old singer indirectly addressed her relationship with Bieber.

"I'm 25. I'm not 18, or 19, or 20. I cherish people who have really impacted my life. So maybe before, it could have been forcing something that wasn't right. But that doesn't mean caring for someone every goes away," said Gomez.
