Tyler Baltierra is preparing to spend the upcoming New Year's Eve holiday without his wife, Catelynn Lowell. However, the Teen Mom OG dad knows his wife is better off in Arizona, where she is currently seeking help for depression.

Over a month after the Teen Mom OG star took to Twitter to confirm her suicidal thoughts, Baltierra continues to raise their daughter as a temporarily single dad as Lowell continues to focus on her mental health needs.

“Tyler would love to have Catelynn home for New Year’s Eve, he’d love to be able to kiss her and welcome in 2018 with her by his side. But he’s putting his own wishes on the back burner and encouraging her to stay in treatment until after the New Year,” a source close to the couple told Hollywood Life on Dec. 28.

According to the source, Baltierra wants his wife to take as much time as she needs so she can leave treatment and not need to go back in the future.

On Nov. 17, Lowell confirmed her plans to seek treatment after she began to experience suicidal thoughts. As she told her fans and followers on Twitter at the time, she thought of every way to kill herself on a Friday before Thanksgiving and decided to get help. A short time later, the longtime reality star checked herself into a treatment center in Arizona.

Since then, Baltierra has been spending time in Arizona so that he can see his wife each weekend.

While Lowell ended up leaving treatment early in an effort to return home and spend the holidays with her husband and their daughter, Novalee Reign, who turns 3 years old next month, she ultimately decided to return to Arizona. As Hollywood Life explained, leaving the treatment center early proved to be a mistake and on Dec. 27, Lowell re-entered the facility to complete her 30-day program.

“She decided to complete the full program,” an insider told Radar Online at the time. “She should be finished completely early to mid January. Everyone is very relieved that she’s finishing her stay.”
