Drew Barrymore Shares Even She Has A Tough Time Finding Love With Online Dating

Drew Barrymore reveals even A-list stars can have trouble finding love, admitting that she goes on online dating sites with very little success.

The Santa Clarita Diet actress speaks candidly about her online dating exploits on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Dating In The Digital Age

Apparently, the star has been dreaming of going on a blind date since she was a teenager. As an actress and a household name, Barrymore figured that she would never get the opportunity to go on one.

Then, online dating opened up all kinds of possibilities. She recalls checking out eHarmony and being asked all kinds of questions, but it was years before Barrymore finally signed up in Raya, which one of her friends use. It's also where fellow Hollywood star Amy Schumer met her boyfriend, she tells Degeneres.

"One night, I'm flying home by myself and I'm like, 'Screw it! I'm going to fulfill my fantasy and go on a dating app! Do a blind date, but not really,'" Barrymore recounts during the interview. "So, I went on it and no one responded."

None of her matches have worked out in her favor. One of the guys asked her what she's doing on the application, which she tells DeGeneres she took as both a compliment and insult. When Barrymore told another guy that it would be great to go out for a drink, she didn't get any response.

"Then there was a guy who said, 'I can meet you from 7 to 8 p.m. I have something afterwards, so that's my limited time window,'" Barrymore says. "I'm such a Josie Grossie from Never Been Kissed, because I'm like, 'Okay. So, I can't do it tonight, but I'm available every night this week.' It's as lame as it gets! He writes me back and he goes, 'Uh, I'm gone for the holidays.' And that was it."

Caught In The Act

In a hilarious twist, ex-husband Will Kopelman even caught wind of her online dating attempts when her profile came up on his phone. Apparently, Barrymore hasn't been successful in getting off the dating app — and she's still trying to.

Barrymore and Kopelman have two daughters together, Olive, 5, and Frankie, 3. The pair was married for three years until they announced their split in 2016. After the divorce was finalized, the actress dated businessman David Hutchinson.

Other men Barrymore has dated in the past include Justin Long and Luke Wilson.
