Social media has become an essential tool to network in this world. It has also allowed people to connect on an intimate basis.

Nicolas Cage Hates Social Media

However, not everyone wants to use social media. Take actor Nicolas Cage for example. The National Treasure franchise actor has no interest in developing a strong social media following. During an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, the actor expressed that he has no regrets joining the tremendous digital revolution.

Cage mentioned that he wanted to follow the lead of acting predecessors such as screen icon Humphrey Bogart.

Cage admitted that he was set in his ways and even called himself 'old school.' He also believed that Bogart and other silver screen icons would not want to use social networking applications such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. He thought that the latest generation of actors have a social media account so that they can gain fans and notoriety. Also, Cage added that he would lose control if he would have a social media account.

"I don't go on Facebook, and I don't have an Instagram or Twitter account. I'm sure that I would have a much more active social life if I did," said Cage to Yahoo! Entertainment.

The Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance star added that he would be very paranoid if he lived in the digital universe. Cage also stated that he preferred meeting people in social settings than meeting them online.

Stars Who Hate Social Media

Cage is not the only celebrity to bash social media. Fashion and beauty mogul Kylie Jenner expressed her unhappiness with Snapchat's new design. Not only did she tweet her disappointment on Twitter, but she also wanted to hear the opinions of her 24.3 million followers.

Actor-comedian Jim Carrey vocally expressed his annoyance with Facebook on Tuesday, Feb. 6. He stated that he deleted his Facebook page and sold his stock because of Facebook's involvement with the Russia-linked accounts that caused chaos during the 2016 Presidential Election.

"I'm dumping my Facebook stock and deleting my page because Facebook profited from the Russian interference in our elections and they're still not doing enough to stop it. I encourage all other investors who care about our future to do the same. #unfriendfacebook," wrote Carrey in a statement to Fortune.

Nicolas Cage Flashback

Despite making his statement regarding his severe dislike for social media, Cage became an international social media sensation last year. Cage was seen dressed in traditional Kazakhstan garb as he attended the 13th Eurasia International Film Festival in the Astana. Social media had a field day. Memes of Cage invaded the Internet as graphic designers put him side by side with entertainer Yakov Smirnoff and alongside President Donald Trump, Pope Francis, First Lady Melania Trump, and Ivanka Trump.
