Nicole Scherzinger's boyfriend, Lewis Hamilton hinted at a future engagement with the singer in a recent interview with British newspaper, The Sun.

The singer/former UK's X-Factor judge, 34, and the 28-year-old race car driver have been in an on/off relationship since 2008, but it seems as if their romance has taken a more serious route, with Hamilton saying that he is ready to take the next step.

"We've been together for five years, which is quite a milestone really," he told The Sun. "But hopefully in the near future. Maybe before we get to six years."

Scherzinger and Hamilton both have busy schedules, but they try their best to spend as much time together as possible. While Scherzinger was a judge on the X Factor last year, Lewis made appearances backstage to support her.

Yahoo noted that the singer also travels with him when he competes in races.

"You kinda have to look at the schedules because people will put something in any time that you have off and we're always working. We have to be like, 'OK, this week I'm going to try to make it to this race, if I don't, I've got this performance here; what can you do?' Every minute counts, you know?" Nicole explained earlier this year.

Speaking of last year's gig with X Factor, Scherzinger admitted that she would "love to get married" one day but is looking forward to on a long engagement.

"I put so much thought into my X Factor dresses every week, so of course I would spend a lot of time thinking about my wedding dress!' she said to Closer magazine.

Engagement rumors for the couple started back in 2011, when Scherzinger's father publicly claimed they were engaged.

"You know about the proposal? Yes they are engaged," he said. "My future son-in-law is a really nice guy, really down-to-earth. My family all like him. The good spirit is there."
