Monsters University is looking to top the weekend box office for the second week in a row, beating new entries The Heat and White House Down.

The latest Pixar animated comedy, Monsters University is projected to make $44.8 million over its second weekend. It led Friday's box office with $15.2 million, showing in over 4,000 theaters. Coupled with it being the only "G" rated film in contention, Monsters University should hit the $175 million total mark this weekend.

Raunchy comedy The Heat is expected to come in second this weekend, with a projected $42.2 million weekend gross. The Sandra Bullock-Melissa McCarthy buddy cop comedy made $15 million on Friday, coming close to Monsters University's Friday gross. Advertising has focused on the film's stars, and given their combined box office success for films like The Proposal and Identity Thief, it shouldn't be surprising.

White House Down, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx is projected to come in at no. 3, making $38.3 million this weekend. The disaster thriller has been marketed in a similar vein to director Roland Emmerich's other disaster films (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012). It also focused on the buddy cop aspect of Tatum and Foxx, both proven to be bankable movie stars. It made $10.5 million on Friday.

After debuting at no. 2 last weekend, zombie blockbuster World War Z is expected to slip to no. 4 in its second week. The film made $9.3 million on Friday and is projected to gross $31.7 million over the weekend. Combined, the film is expected to hit $125 million total since its debut.

Man of Steel is projected to make $20.1 million in its third weekend, coming in at no. 5. It made an additional $6.1 million on Friday and it expected to come close to $250 million after this weekend.
