Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson have not let an online poll that pitted them against each other to irk them. Instead, the musicians shared their love for one another.

Underwood and Clarkson exchanged Twitter messages over the weekend in response to the ballot asking fans to choose the most iconic American Idol winner.

The "Since U Been Gone" singer only have good things to say about her fellow American Idol alum. Clarkson proved that she and Underwood will not be pitted against each other no matter the results of the online poll.

Underwood responded to Clarkson's tweet by sharing her sentiments. The 35-year-old singer also asked that instead of pitting women against each other, people should just celebrate female empowerment.

Both singers responded after a publication asked fans who they think deserves the title of Most Iconic American Idol Winner. Of course, the choices were Clarkson and Underwood who won the singing competition in Season 1 and Season 4, respectively.

Commentators agree that both are winners in their own right. No one can pit them against each other.

"You just can't compare the two. They are both awesome beautiful and strong in their own ways and they both rock the house," one fan wrote.

Meanwhile, others also agreed with Underwood that publications should stop pitting women against each other.

One user wrote that both Underwood and Clarkson are awesome while another said that they are both queens, so there is no need to pit them against each other.

Meanwhile, another fan called the singers powerful and iconic women who should be celebrated for their talent.

Underwood and Clarkson are two of the success stories of American Idol, so it is not surprising that people would want to pit them against each other. However, both women only have high respect for one another.

Clarkson maintains her friendship with Underwood even though fans at times mistake her for "The Champion" singer and vice versa. She supposed that it could be that she and Underwood are both American Idol winners and are both blondes.
