Ben Affleck had a heartbreaking setback after one year of sobriety.

He was spotted tipsy on Saturday night after the UNICEF Masquerade Ball at La Peer Hotel in West Hollywood, California. The actor owned up to his mistake and was seen visiting his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and their kids in L.A. the next day.

Rare Instagram Post

After sharing a photo of his "Best Dad Ever" Award from his kids on Father's Day, Affleck took to Instagram to share his one-year of sobriety with The Midnight Mission.

He encouraged his 4 million followers to make a donation to the organization to help people who battle addiction every day but don't have the resources to get the help they need.

The Moment He Lost Control

TMZ reported that Affleck was seen leaving the UNICEF party wearing a dark suit and a Halloween skull mask. The catch: he was clearly having trouble walking.

Aflleck reportedly nearly fell on the street, but he was able to steady himself by holding on to a nearby vehicle.

Affleck has been struggling with alcohol addiction, which caused the downfall of his marriage last year. In August of 2018, Garner drove him to a treatment facility in Malibu for his third rehab assignment. The actor had been in and out of treatment and has since admitted that alcoholism will always be a part of his life -- though he emphasize he won't let it subsume his whole identity.

Earlier this October, the Independent reported that Affleck spent 40 days in a rehab facility and is currently in outpatient care. He was also said to be working with a sober coach and was reportedly "doing great."

Affleck Takes Responsibility

The dad-of-three acknowledged to the press that he stumbled in his sobriety journey. TMZ updated the report to reveal that Affleck was seen on Sunday with a tall cup of coffee in hand and a face filled with optimism.

JustJared also reported that a source told them Affleck acknowledged he can slip up from time to time. He knows that sobriety is going to be difficult and it is a struggle for everyone with an addiction.

Affleck previously acknowledged that recovery is a full-time commitment and that he is fighting for himself and his family

Seeking Support

On Sunday (Oct. 27), Affleck was seen arriving at Garner's home in L.A, People reported.

Apparently, he was sober enough to drive himself there. Before entering Garner's home, paparazzi asked him how he was holding up, to which he responds by admitting first that he slipped up. Nonetheless, he assured his fans that he is not going to let what happened derail him.

Garner reportedly has a strong relationship with Affleck and is supportive of him. The ex-spouses have been working closely to co-parent their three children.

It remains unclear if Affleck will return to in-patient care, but he is currently seeking wellness treatment and outpatient care.
