Alec Baldwin's attorney spoke about the allegations that the actor's recklessness on the "Rust" set led to the death of Halyna Hutchins.

Amid the ongoing probe into the "Rust" shooting incident, Baldwin dealt another legal blow after Hutchins' family finally decided to file a wrongful death lawsuit against him and other members of the movie crew.

The cinematographer's family made a move through their lead lawyer, Brian Panish, on Tuesday. According to the legal representative, "Rust" set's reckless behavior and cost-cutting led to Hutchins' death.

However, Baldwin's attorney defended his client and said that the actor has always been cooperative with the ongoing investigation.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, attorney Aaron Dyer said that the claims are entirely false since the actor only did what he was told to do.

"Everyone's hearts and thoughts remain with Halyna's family as they continue to process this unspeakable tragedy. We continue to cooperate with the authorities to determine how live ammunition arrived on the 'Rust' set in the first place. Any claim that Alec was reckless is entirely false," Dyer said.

Baldwin, Hutchins, and the whole crew reportedly followed the two professionals who should be responsible for checking the gun. He also insisted that the "Rust" set followed the protocol that thousands of film and series' sets tracked in the past years.

Dyer also said that actors only rely on armorers and prop department professionals. Assistant directors also play a huge role in ensuring gun safety.

"Rust" Shooting Investigation Update

Hutchins' family named Baldwin, armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and assistant director David Halls in the lawsuit. Production companies and producers related to the set were also named on behalf of Halyna's husband Matthew Hutchins and their son Andros.

Following the development, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office offered no comment on the lawsuit that was recently filed. But the office's spokesperson Juan Rios assured that the investigation remains open and ongoing.

Among the defendants, Hutchins' family lawyer blamed Baldwin the most.

"I think it's clear what happened. Alec had the gun in his hand. He shot it. Halyna was killed," Panish said. He also noted that Baldwin and the production broke at least 15 industry standards on the movie's set.

Hutchins' family, though the lawsuit, is asking for punitive damages, funeral fees, and burial expenses.
