Alicia Witt's parents' cause of death has been determined months after the authorities found their bodies inside their Worcester home.

Two months after Robert and Diane Witt were found unresponsive inside their home, the authorities released their official death certificates on Wednesday. The Telegram & Gazette obtained the documents, revealing that Witt's parents suffered from "probable cardiac dysrhythmia" due to cold.

UCHealth explains that cold weather can stress a person's heart, and recent studies support the link between temperature and heart issues.

Dr. Will Baker, a cardiologist with UCHealth Heart and Vascular Clinics in Steamboat Springs and Craig, said: "There is some evidence that there's increased risk for heart disease during cold weather months. That can raise your blood pressure and heart rate, stressing the heart."

The actress nor her representative has not commented on the new development yet.

This somewhat supported the initial findings that the couple faced furnace problems. It prompted them to use a space heater instead to keep their bodies warm.

Meanwhile, other potential causes of death - including carbon monoxide poisoning, trauma, and foul play - had since been dismissed.

What Happened to Alicia Witt's Parents?

In December, the "Walking Dead" actress reportedly lost contact with her parents for several days. She eventually asked a relative nearby to check on Robert and Diane, but the police found their dead bodies instead.

"I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them. Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable," Witt wrote in a statement, as quoted by Fox News. "I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events, and this surreal loss."

Many neighbors also claimed that they offered help to the couple, but they refused. One community member also noted that both Robert and Diane had been ill for quite some time before their passing.

Following their deaths, Witt suffered condemnation as people accused her of not helping her parents and letting them live inside an abode not ideal for old people.

The actress, in defense, said that her parents themselves refused to receive help even from her. She was also not allowed inside their home "for over a decade."
