The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is bringing an extra scene with it when it travels on to DVD and Blu-ray.

The first of the three Hobbit films, An Unexpected Journey introduces viewers to the plight of Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) and his loyal band of dwarves. Determained to take bcak his home in the Lonely Mountains from the dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch), Thorin enlists the help of Gandalf (Ian McKellen), who in turn recruits the reluctant hobbit Bilbo (Martin Freeman).

For the newly added scene, fans will get to see Bilbo's first one-on-one meeting with the elf Elrond (Hugo Weaving). Unsure if he should continue the treacherous journey he has embarked on, Bilbo hears the council of the wise elf. Elrond, much to Bilbo's dismay, is particularly unbiased in his recommendation. Directed by Peter Jackson, the Hobbit series serves as a prelude to The Lord of the Rings storyline. Like previously released trilogy, the DVD for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released with an extensive amount of extras. Included in this 9-hour package is audio commentary from Jackson and a chronological look at the process of filming the fantasy tale.

"I'm thrilled that the Extended Edition will give fans the opportunity to experience certain key scenes in the film as they were originally shot, as well as an abundance of special features," Jackson said, according to CommingSoon. "It's exciting to present this expanded and enriched version...to allow fans to fully immerse themselves in the movie, before seeing the second part of the trilogy."

The DVD and Blu-ray will be released on Nov. 5, a little over a month before the Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug enters theaters.
