Okay, so like, obviously George Clooney is still George Clooney.

BUT, the natural passage of time and pop culture means that George Clooney - married and a dad now - definitely qualifies as a Hollywood elder, leaving an opening in the "first name you think of when we say hot movie star" category - one that has clearly already been filled by Chris Evans.

In his day, Clooney was THE man. He had movie after movie where he played a cool, suave, debonair heartbreaker, like Ocean's Eleven, and others where he really dug into the role and brought something spectacular to theaters, like Gravity. He even played a superhero, too - though most critics pan his Batman in Batman and Robin as the worst movie rendition of the hero ever, he was still cast as one of the biggest heroes of his day.

Evans has had a similar history: He started off in rom-coms like Playing It Cool, and rose up to play the dashing and kindly Captain America for several movies, as well as some deep dramas full of emotion and heart, like Gifted. (He even played a panned superhero as well - remember when he was the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movie?)

These guys are both hot, built, incredible actors, who also have a reputation for being some of the sweetest guys on the planet. But none of that is how we know Chris Evans is the new George Clooney. You know how we know?

Chris Evans was trending on Twitter today, and not low down on the list either - he was in the top five trending Entertainment topics this morning. No, he's not in a new movie, and he's not doing anything publicly right now - he just posted a new selfie.

Admittedly, it's a good selfie, and he looks really good in it - the brunette look works well for him - but only THE new Movie Star of All Movie Stars could have that kind of trending power.

Of course, he was still posting to promote something - his upcoming film Ghosted, which has not yet released any details about its plot or general concept - all we know is that it's an action-adventure comedy also starring Ana De Armas (who replaced Scarlett Johansson), and that filming just began a month ago. If you want to see more of Evans' "fluffy" hair, keep an eye out for news on that - we'll have it here.

Here's to Chris Evans - hope he enjoys the fluffy, and the purple.
