The war in Ukraine is still raging. Gas prices in some states have sky rocketed up to $7.99. New York is still struggling in the aftermath of the Brooklyn Subway shooting. And Chris Rock was seen for the first time out and about since the Will Smith Oscars slap.

Comedian Chris Rock was slapped by actor Will Smith at this year's Oscar awards after making a joke about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith's, hair. Since that time, Smith has been banned by the Academy from attending the awards ceremony for ten years - though some have questioned whether or not that's actually a punishment.

Smith also resigned from the Academy.

Chris Rock has made minimal comments on the occurrence. Straight after the Oscars, he started out on his Ego Death tour - and while crowds were obviously ravenous for a savage opening joke or comment, he said that the needs to process everything before making an official comment.

He has been met on tours with both thunderous applause, and some copycat heckling.

So here we are: In the throes of everything going on in the world, people are still going crazy after spotting him for the first time out and about in New York City since the occurrence. The comment on the Instagram picture above, "Y'all act like this man got shot by a rival gang," is not an incorrect assessment of the world's reaction.

We know people have the capacity to find more than one thing intresting at once - but the juxtoposition of this headline alongside ones about blood on the subway floor will never not be baffling. We will keep you up to date on any Chris Rock-Will Smith news as it comes to light (alongside the many other, more important things happening in the world today!)
