The new Denzel Washington/Mark Wahlberg action film 2 Guns is looking to take the No. 1 spot at the box office this weekend.

The R-rated film made $9.8 million at the box office on Friday and is expected to gross $27 million over the weekend, according to Saturday report by Deadline. It is expected to take the No. 1 slot at the box office despite a relatively low projected gross compared to previous weeks' No. 1 films.

Last week's No. 1 film, The Wolverine, is expected to fall to No. 2 this weekend. The Hugh Jackman-starring film made $6.4 million Friday and is projected to take in $18.2 million this weekend, putting it close to a $100 million total.

The week's other major release, The Smurfs 2, is expected to disappoint overall. The combination live action/animated sequel only made $5.7 million Friday despite opening in wide release. It is expected to gross $18 million this weekend.

Sony Pictures Animation told Deadline that they were expecting more for The Smurfs 2 but claimed "word out of international continues to be great."

Horror-thriller The Conjuring is looking to come in a No. 4 this weekend with a gross of $12.5 million projected. The film made $4.1 million on Friday and is expected to cross the $100 million threshold for its total income.

Rounding out the top five for the weekend is expected to be animated sequel Despicable Me 2. The film has stayed in the top five every weekend since its release on July 3 and is expected to gross an additional $10 million this weekend. This will bring its U.S. total to $326.3 million.

Expected to finish in the top 10 this week are Grown Ups 2, Turbo, Red 2, The Heat and Pacific Rim, which are projected to gross between $3.5 and $7 million.
