Will Smith showed signs of remorse soon after committing the Oscars blunder when he suddenly slapped Chris Rock.

The supposed peaceful Oscars ceremony created the "slap heard around the world" when Smith smacked Rock on the stage after the comedian joked about Jada Pinkett-Smith. Rock's family has since revealed that he would not make a joke about Smith's wife if he knew about her alopecia condition.

Months after it happened, Smith and Rock's mutual friend, Tyler Perry, opened up about the incident and said that the "King Richard" actor was devastated after slapping the comedian.

Will Smith Regretting What Happened?

During a panel at the Tribeca Film Festival, Perry told Gayle King that both Smith and Rock faced difficult situations. He added that the actor was ruined following the slap.

"He couldn't believe what happened. He couldn't believe he had done it. I'm looking at this man in his eyes going, 'What are you doing? This is your night.' And to get all the way to this moment, winning an Oscar, that was one of the crowning moments of his career that he wanted so desperately, and to have something like that happen," he continuously said, as quoted by Fox News.

Perry noted that Smith is now in deep reflection to realize what happened and learned from it.

According to the filmmaker, he recently read Smith's book and found out that the actor was not able to protect his mother as a child. Thus, he acted immediately but at the most inappropriate and horrible time.

Since he is both friends with Rock and Smith, Perry felt the difficulty when it happened.

Perry's comments came after Pinkett Smith broke her silence for the first time. Like the billionaire producer, she expressed her desire for her husband and Rock to finally reconcile.

In one of the recent episodes of her "Red Table Talk," she said that the world needs Smith and Rock right now.

"With the state of the world today, we need 'em both, and we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years - and that's [to] keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening," she went on.

However, Rock reportedly refused to pay any attention to her remarks.
