How Charlbi Dean's Sudden Death at 32 Shocked Brother, Family: 'Not Sure What Happened'
Charlbi Dean's death was too sudden that she left her family with questions.
Dean, an up-and-coming actress, shocked the world when the news about her death emerged. She passed away on Monday at a hospital in New York, Variety reported.
It was revealed that she died after suffering from a sudden illness. But her brother recently disclosed further details about her passing.
Alex Jacobs told Rolling Stone on Wednesday how the family is yet to process her death. He disclosed that the 32-year-old actress and model initially experienced minor symptoms that led her to ask her fiancé, Luke Volker, to take her to the hospital.
Unfortunately, she died a few hours after her admission.
Dean's brother expressed his shock, especially since everything happened in just one day. From having a seemingly simple headache and sleeping it away, the actress suddenly woke up to have someone take her to the hospital.
"We still aren't entirely sure [what happened]. There's an autopsy being done which we know might take quite a while. But what we have heard [that] there was a viral infection in her lungs," he went on, as quoted by PEOPLE.
Jacobs also said that the absence of her spleen seemingly led her to succumb to the infection as the organ should have helped her fight off the health issue.
For what it's worth, she had her spleen removed after a "bad car accident" in Cape Town in 2009 (some reported that it happened in 2008). It also caused her broken ribs and broken back. At that time, she was admitted to the ICU.
Five other passengers, including her previous boyfriend, were also injured.
In the end, Jacobs described her as a caring and loving sibling as she was able to remind everyone that she gave her love to them.

Following her passing, her fiancé posted a video thanking everyone who extended their heartfelt messages as the family dealt with the trying times.
It was heartbreaking for Volker, especially since he lost her months after proposing to her at the place where they kissed for the first time.

Her fans also found her death untimely, saying that Dean could have had achieved more if she survived the health issue.
Details about her funeral remain unknown. The exact cause of death is still yet to be determined.
