The REAL Reason Lewis Agreed to Join

Fans in the comments section expressed their shock and excitement on watching Lewis on "DWTS". In a recent interview with People, the "Sex and the City" star elaborates on his decision to join the dance competition, and explained that it all started when his wife, producer Liz Godwin, had urged him when the offer came this year.

"I'd always said no to it because I perceived it as reality TV, and it wasn't a point of interest," Lewis explained. "This year, when the offer came in, my fianceé asked me to be a little less pigheaded and at least take a look at a show."

The actor's wife, Liz, had been a long-time fan of "Dancing with the Stars", and had him watch the episodes of the show, to which Lewis expressed that he was "awestruck" as he found that the dances were "incredibly beautifully done". The 51 year old actor went on to detail his wife's excitement on his participation on the 31st season of the reality competition.

"She had her short list of people that she really hoped I was going to end up with and Peta was on it," The actor told People. "It's been fun because she's not only kept me up to speed, but it's having somebody to share it with who's really enthusiastic. She's such a great support. Love you, babe!"

"Dancing with the Stars" premieres its 31st season on September 19, which will stream for the first time on Disney+. The upcoming season features Tyra Banks as a host and executive producer. The judges for this season include Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough.
